It is urgent that you take action now at the NYSUT Member Action Center to oppose Tier VI!
The risky Tier VI proposal would compromise your retirement security by adding yet another tier to the pension system, forcing new teachers, bus drivers, and support staff to choose between a reduced retirement benefit and a state-sponsored 401(k). And if new employees go into a 401(k) type plan, it would reduce the number of new members in the current pension plan, giving the retirement system less revenue to pay benefits to people like you.

This proposal comes in an era in which 401(k) accounts have lost over $1 trillion-- losses that are not due to the actions of working men and women, but because of Wall Street greed and the demolition of government oversight of the financial sector.
